Chinatsu gets home from school just as her mother is heading out to buy food for dinner. Chinatsu is invited to come along, but she says she’ll stay home as there’s a TV show she wants to watch.

(かあ)さん:
「じゃあ(なに)()ってきてほしい(もの)ある?」
“Then, is there anything you'd like me to buy?”

Key Points

  1. 買ってきてほしい means want someone to buy and bring back

    • ()ってくる includes going out, buying, and returning.

    • 〜てほしい asks whether Chinatsu wants her mother to do that for her.

  2. The desired item is asked with 物ある

    • (もの)ある as a question means “is there anything?” with the thing left broad.

    • The full idea is “anything you want me to buy?”
