Grammar: Time and Sequence » 〜うちに

〜うちに is used to refer to a period of time. The period of time is represented by the modifier in front of うちに. Often 〜うちに is used when taking advantage of an opportunity.

Usage Notes

〜うちに means doing something while a favorable condition still holds, before that chance disappears. It can carry a “while you still can” feeling.

〜うちは contrasts one period with another. 〜うちに emphasizes taking action during the window.
