The adverb 全然(ぜんぜん) followed by a negative verb or adjective gives the meaning “not at all”, such as “do not understand at all” or “am not happy at all”.

Usage Notes

全然(ぜんぜん) denies the degree of something. It appears with negative forms, but casual speech also uses 全然(ぜんぜん) with positive words to mean “totally” or “completely”.
