Entering and putting in with 入
The kanji 入 means enter or go in. It also extends to the idea of putting into, receiving into, or joining something. Because entry can be physical or abstract, 入 appears in words about admission, buying, joining organizations, inputting data, and bringing things inside.
Etymology
This kanji is a pictogram showing a point moving inward through an opening. The narrowing lines suggest motion into a space rather than outward from it.
