Competition
試合 (Match)
試合 means a match or contest in sports, martial arts, or games.
It combines 試 (test) with 合 (meet) to show a competitive meeting.

Joining
合同 (Combined)
合同 means joining together or acting jointly, as in a combined group or event.
It combines 合 (join) with 同 (together) to show joining into one.
Kei’ichi is excited to spend four days at the beach with his university automobile club and Belldandy. His mood changes when he hears Sayoko call out to him.

集合場所 (Meeting place)
集合場所 means a meeting place or designated spot where people gather.
It combines 集合 (gathering) with 場所 (place) to show a designated place to gather.
Chiyo and her friends from class to go a new year shrine visit together. Chiyo remarks on how crowded it is.

Standards
合格 (Passing)
合格 means passing an exam or meeting the standard for acceptance.
It combines 合 (match) with 格 (standard) to show matching the standard.
Bocchi’s mother confirms with Bocchi that her exam results will be available online.
