Peace and ease with 安
The kanji 安 has the core meanings of peaceful and safe.
When things are calm and free from danger, they feel settled and easy on the mind. From that idea, 安 extends to senses like relief, rest, easy, and even cheap.
Etymology
This kanji is traditionally explained as an ideogrammic compound comprised of 宀 (roof, house) and 女 (woman). These invoke imagery of someone quietly settled inside a house, suggesting a household at rest.
Peace of Mind
安心 (Relief)
安心 means relief, peace of mind, or a sense of reassurance. It describes the feeling that comes when worry or danger has passed, or when you can trust that things will be alright.
It can also be used with する to mean “to feel relieved” or “to feel reassured”.
It combines 安 (at ease) with 心 (heart) to show a heart that is free from worry.
After returning home from work, Nishikata is ready to sit back and relax for a bit. Takagi leans over and asks Nishikata if he knows what day it is.

不安 (Anxiety)

It combines 不 (not) with 安 (at ease) to show being not at ease.
During a visit with Anzu’s family, Makoto receives a request to babysit for another witch. Things are fine at first, but after a while, rain begins to pour inside. Anzu’s mother realizes that the child they’re watching over has rain magic.

安全 (Safety)
安全 means safety or security: a condition in which there is no danger, harm, or serious risk. It is used for physical safety, data security, and broader ideas of protection.
It combines 安 (safe) with 全 (whole, complete) to show a state of being completely free from danger.

治安 means public order, public safety, or the general state of peace and security in a society. It is often used when talking about crime, policing, and whether an area feels safe to live in.
It combines 治 (govern, bring under control) with 安 (peace) to show peace maintained through good order.

安定 (Stability)
安定 means stability, steadiness, or security. It describes a settled condition that does not fluctuate wildly, whether physically, emotionally, financially, or socially.
It combines 安 (peaceful) with 定 (settled, fixed) to show a peacefully settled state.
