A client tells Detective Mouri about the condition in which she found her deceased husband. Hearing the details, Conan identifies the likely poison, including the composition, the dosage required to kill, and the internal effects it has on a person. When Ran asks how he knows all this, Conan covers by saying the monster villain on the kid’s TV show he watched explained it.

(らん):
随分(ずいぶん) 丁寧(ていねい)怪人(かいじん)ね… (どく)成分(せいぶん)まで(おし)えてくれるなんて…」
“What a polite villain... Going so far as to tell the poison's composition...”
コナン:
「そんな怪人(かいじん)いねーよ…」
“No such monster exists...”

Key Points

  1. 成分(せいぶん) means the components that make something up

    • Here it means the poison’s chemical makeup or ingredients, not just the poison’s name

    • (どく)成分(せいぶん) points to what the poison is made of

  2. まで highlights how far the explanation goes

    • 成分(せいぶん)まで(おし)えてくれる means the villain even tells them the composition too

    • The surprise is not just that he explains the poison, but that he goes into unusually detailed, helpful specifics
